Love all the Anns and Alices--Patchett, Tyler, Beattie, Quindlen, Lamott, Hoffman, Munro. They have the masterful art of drawing life down to the finest point. I get lost in their books and study their writing for character development. I'm also a fan of historical fiction--love Eric Larsen and Dead Wake, Devil in the White City. I just finished Kline's The Exiles, a great read about women convicts in Australia in 1840.

Informazione su di me

I'm an author of memoir, mysteries, and a novel. A former print journalist and teacher, I joined the Peace Corps late in life and went to Mexico--a place that grabbed me, heart and soul. Before that year, I taught in Argentina and at a boys' prison. I wrote THE BOYS OF ALPHA BLOCK, a novel about a prison escape. My stories have been published in Akashic Books, The Blotter, The Atherton Review, and Gargoyle. My memoir, THE LAST CADILLAC, focuses on the years I cared for my father while raising two kids on an island in Florida. My Blanche "Bang" Murninghan mystery series includes SAVING TUNA STREET, TROUBLE DOWN MEXICO WAY, and MISSION IMPROBABLE:VIETNAM. Blanche is a part-time journalist, part-time beach bum--and a reluctant sleuth with a penchant for travel. Most of my books are set in Florida. I love Florida, and I'm there a lot. I live in Indiana.
