La mia biblioteca

LibraryThing is used to host our catalog of works held at the Gage Foundation. The Foundation's library is not currently accessible to the public. It includes works by Matilda Joslyn Gage and her contemporaries, including works that were owned by Gage or other immediate family members during their lifetimes. Many of the works in the physical library are rare or fragile and require special handling.

The LibraryThing catalog includes several collections: the Delphi collection, consisting of books owned by the Gage family and gifted by a descendent, Philadelphia Carpenter Andrews; the Matilda Joslyn Gage Personal Library, which highlights books that are known to have belonged to Matilda Joslyn Gage; the Matilda Jewell Gage collection, consisting of books belonging to the Gage family that came to the foundation through Sally Roesch Wagner from the literary estate of Matilda Jewell Gage; and the Fred Meyer Collection Relating to Oz, consisting of audiovisual materials from the collection held at the Gage Foundation.

An additional collection in the library does not represent works held by the Gage Foundation but rather represents a bibliography of the works Matilda Joslyn Gage consulted in writing her magnum opus, Woman, Church, and State. This bibliography was reconstructed from Gage's text by Sally Roesch Wagner.

We encourage you to contact the Foundation with questions or with additions to the Woman, Church, and State bibliography.
