- Holyoke's library is drawn from his will, dated 25 December 1658. Of books, he writes: "As for my books and wrightings I give my sonn [Elizur] Holyoke all the books that are at Linn as allsoe the Iron Chest and the bookes I have in my study that are Mr Beanghans works I give him hee onely can make use of them and likewise I give all my manuscripts whatsoever and I give him that large new testament in folio with wast papers between every leafe that I give him. As allsoe Mr Ainsworth on the books of Moses and the psalmes and my dixinary and Tenellius bible in Latton and my latten Concent and Daniell bound together here I give to my sonn Holyoke and A part of the new testament in ffolio with wast paper betwin every leafe and the greate mapps of geneology and that old manuscript called a Synas sight."
The inventory of Holyoke's estate, taken 19 June 1660, appraised his books "at Lynne & Rumney Marsh" at £20.

- Edward Holyoke (1585 - 4 May 1660), early resident of Rumney Marsh (Chelsea) and Lynn, Massachusetts. He often represented Lynn at the General Court between 1639 and 1648, and was granted 500 acres there in 1638.
Edward Holyoke married Prudence Stockton; their son Elizur was an early settler of Springfield, Massachusetts, and held several offices in that town; his grandson Edward was president of Harvard. Edward and Prudence also had several surviving daughters. - Luogo
