The Cookbooks of Home

Descrizione

hfglen: The classic Durban Indian book, as found in the trousseau of all local Indian brides. The recipes work, but illustrations are, in the 21st century, a bit sparse.

hfglen: Classic Cape Malay food; the recipes work and are beautifully illustrated. There are also delightful stories of life in Bo-Kaap. The author has written at least one other that would be worth looking out.

hfglen: Victorian Cape cookery. Sometimes a tad hard to follow, but nonetheless a classic.

hfglen: South African outdoor cookery and humour. The recipes are several cuts above the usual meat-incinerated-outside-and-raw-inside that characterises "National Braai Day"every 24 September. He has written others that are worth searching out.

hfglen: Leipoldt was a medic, poet, botanist and cordon-bleu chef. Fascinating reading, and you might get there in the end with his recipes, but they are discursive!
