1964 College Preparatory Reading List
- Descrizione
- The purpose of this General Reading List was to help students "acquire a necessary reading background" for college. It was published in 1964 by the Nioga Library System in Niagara Falls, NY, and edited by Flora Webb, the Director of the Lee-Whedon Memorial Library in Medina, NY. From the Introduction: "This is a general list drawn from all fields. Subjects are taught to you separately in school for convenience, not because they exist in isolation from each other. The accumulation of habits, traditions, artistic expression and mental attitudes that we call "culture," "civilization," or "way of life" is indivisible and you must learn to see it as a whole, not in neatly labelled sections." It is fun to consider how, approximately 60 years later, this list should be changed and/or added to!
