- PitcherBooks : Excellent writer but ... Irresponsible trivializing of brutality, violence, stalkers, rape, and sex. A bubble-gum after-school special gone wrong. I have no problem with sex and sexuality presented in a responsible and realistic way for this easily pleased and impressionable age set. But I do have a serious problem with a book obviously written for tweens that implies that oral sex is not really sex. And that stalking by a handsome and much older stranger may end up well. Or that if a girl doesn't pass inspection, well, she'll end up being just a pass-around sex toy. Really!?

As the girls grow, age, & mature, they are able to interact with local people on a more human and realistic level than any of the white adults. A keeper to read more than once. ...
