This is about taking the work of J. D. Salinger seriously -- as possibly (please discuss) America's greatest short story writer -- slick or not. As a pioneer (agree or no) rather than just a trendy neo-zen scribbler who speaks to lots of angst-ridden middle-class teenagers. You don't have to agree, you just have to be respectful.
