Breve biografia
Marlo York studied her friends at a young age and earned a reputation as an oblivious liar. With her skills, Ms. York tried lulling children to sleep, performing skits on the street and ultimately found success conning people. Since beginning to write, she hardly ever lies in person anymore.

Leonard "Leon" Dobson is a US Navy sailor during World War II. He is good at his job, and he manages to hide a great secret quite well. During an allied attack on a Japanese fort, a plane is shot down, and Leon jumps into the water to save the pilot. Not quite understanding Nikifor Jelen when he says his name, Leon nicknames him "Kip" and brings him to safety. Following the battle, the crew lands on an island while they regroup and prepare for the next stage of the journey. It's during this time that Kip and Leon begin to realize they might share a similar great secret. But Kip is engaged, and Lucy is waiting for him at home. So while they acknowledge a mutual attraction, it looks like it can't be anything more than a secret rendezvous or two until they get home.

I do enjoy historical romance, and this one has a very well-developed and believable story. I appreciate the care that the author took in developing everything here. The cast of supporting characters really help to bring the world to life, and the way the relationship develops is realistic and believable. While there are some moments when things move a bit slow, it all works toward the somewhat surprising conclusion.
