Ember-Raine Winters

Randy is a closeted MMA fighter who is not interested in coming out until his career is over. Cliff isn't interested in being a secret on the side, so he takes off despite being in love with Randy. When they reconnect a year later, Randy is determined to get Cliff back.

The biggest frustration for me was the lack of communication and the wishy-washy back and forth with Cliff. I get that he was having to work out if Randy was worth waiting for, but he was almost too whiny at times for my liking. I also recognize that this was a 4th book in a series, but I don't read MF so I didn't read books 1-3. It said this is a standalone, so I should have been OK reading this, but there were definitely things that I didn't get or understand with the relationships of Cliff's besties because I didn't read the other books.

I did like Darren and Cassie as characters, and I loved seeing Uncle Randy with the baby. The story had some interesting parts to it, and I loved how the final fight situation with Max worked out. I was glad to see Randy and Cliff finally find happiness.

This is a very realistic portrayal of the difficulties of living with PTSD, especially as those who do not understand it respond in ways that are harmful, even when they mean well. Kaylee has a hot temper and isn't waiting around for someone to rescue her, but Griffin, in true hero style, does just that. Their chemistry is hot hot hot, both on a physical and emotional level, and their troubled past only escalates both. Griff is tough and protective, and Kaylee struggles with how much she should allow him to help her - I think this is a struggle many women, PTSD-challenged or not, face.

This reminded me of [author:Sidney Halston|6916557]'s [book:Pull Me Close|28587609], which is the only other book I've read that handles PTSD realistically, and has a romance with passion and affection as well. I'm definitely looking forward to book two in this series!… (altro)

More intense drama full of sexual tension from Ember, who delivers the goods in this second installment of her Pride and Honor series. Tasha, aka Trixy, has a past darker than Dylan, aka Twitch, imagined, and as a detective, she has to revisit her hometown and those who betrayed her in order to fulfill her duties and find a kidnapper (Kaylee's ex, from book one). Dylan has his own nightmares from his past, and has to deal with them while trying to convince Tasha that she can trust him with her life and her heart - why should they be alone, fighting their emotional and physical attraction, when they can be there for each other?

Read this in one sitting - couldn't possibly read it any other way. The sex is hot, the emotions fierce, and the story compelling. Can't wait for the next title in this series!… (altro)
