This is such a lovely book on human - animal bonds. What makes this book so special it has equal focus on how the humans have changed for the positive in response of the new animal in the family. Of course, the stories of individual animals are always very heart warming.

The book is well written and to the point. Where many books like this get turned into a cutesy look how wonderful this is, the tone here is a quiet positive, in that a reader is free to stand back and reflect in each human animal bond.

There is also a wide spectrum of animals, mostly horses and dogs, but a few cats and birds too. Some stories are full of amazing animals, others of amazing people. And then, there are a few of normal people with normal animals that celebrates this bond. I think my favorite is the Maricopa Mash, where the Sheriff turned his county jail into a safe harbor for unwanted pets.
