Cynthia Chapman Willis

The title of the book sounded ominous, as does the situation. Dead End, Dill's dog, has been killing sheep and the sheriff is looking for him. I had to read the last page or two to make sure the dog survives. He does. I read the book and enjoyed it, although, Dill was rather an annoying child.

This is a good story with lots of reasons to have a kleenex nearby. Dealing with the death of her mother and blaming her dad, Dill bonds with a dog.
Nice dialogue, fits the southern setting.

Boys in northern rural areas with fathers who have a hunting legacy are going to like the authenticity of this book. Good characters and a good story.

Good hunting story.
