Maid in Manhattan
Romance
The heartwarming "tail" of a young girl whose life is changed by a scruffy, fun-loving pooch she names Winn-Dixie. The special bond between them works magic on her reserved dad and the eccentric townspeople they meet during one unforgettable summer.
Taxi drivers look for the missing Chan who has their $4000. Not really a plot, more a tour of 1982 San Francisco Chinatown, and a pretty fascinating one at that. Moy, playing at being a detective, is great as the search for Chan grows more complicated as each person he meets has a different perception of the missing character. Cheaply made on black & white film, this is not a great film, but it is unique and worth watching.
A light-weight but very enjoyable rom-com, starring Jennifer Lopez as the hard-working hotel maid Marisa. She is also bringing up her son Ty (Tyler Posey) as a single mother.
Some humour, some poignancy, one or two deeper issues touched upon, with an excellent pace, good chemistry, and some superb supporting actors.
All in all, we enjoyed it very much, both when we initially saw it, and nine years later when we re-watched it.
Definitely recommended.
