Happy Singles Day: A Delightful Opposites Attract… di Ann Marie Walker
Rounded up.
I will say right off the bat that this book is not about the day in the title. It is rather about getting up and living after life has dealt one a deadly blow, and also about putting one’s self out there after a bad heartbreak.

There were four things that really bothered me about this book:
1) You mean to tell me that a person who writes a lot of lists (although we never hear about more than one list really) wouldn't bother to do some research to see if a drunken wedding overseen by a busboy in a foreign country was actually legal? I find that hard to believe.
2) I wish more time had been spent in Ireland (but I agree that the Kilmainham Gaol is a fascinating place and well worth the visit.)
3) Way too many Friends references.
4) That epilogue... I've never been a fan of reading things from a pet's POV, and this one felt especially tacked on.
I had other little quibbles too, but suffice it to say, I only found this book "okay" at best... Could be that I was expecting something more along the lines of the film "Leap Day" with Amy Adams and Matthew Goode, but that's on me.… (altro)

Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker
Contemporary romantic comedy.
Cara takes a short trip to Dublin for a conference even though she knows her ex boyfriend will be there. Her ride share driver gives her his sweater and the two meet and get to know each other over the next three days. Up to and including her whiskey drinking leap day proposal that changes their lives quickly as they next fly to Malibu, CA to deal with their unexpected marriage.
A cute, sweet and humorous story that sweeps you along into the romance along with Cara and Finn. Their stumbling was a bit heartbreaking because I wanted it all to work out!
I loved Julia and her solid friendship as well as Penelope, the aging screen star and landlord. They both added dimension to Cara and her life choices.
Finn and his accent and his clear feelings for Cara were swoon worthy.
The epilogue was funny and from an unexpected POV.
🎧 I listened to the audiobook version of this book. It was narrated by Cady Zuckerman who did a marvelous job with the Irish accent for Finn and the additional cast of Cara, Julia and Penelope and others. The emotions were clear and the full text easy to listen to. I played the audio at 1.25 which is my preferred speed that matches a comfortable casual conversation.
