The Pooh friends are used in turn to highlight a body part, and each page has a button a reader can match and push to hear a little girl's voice say the name of the body part. On the last page all the friends show up for the "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" song, which can be played in electronic instrumental form with another button.

I suppose the youngest ones being read to will enjoy the buttons, but the sound might irritate parents in short order.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. This set of board books provides some cute images of Pooh and his friends but doesn't have engaging stories or rhymes and isn't really very strong on introducing basic concepts to infants or toddlers. I've reviewed each of the books individually under their separate titles.

I really think kids will have more fun with the box, with its handle on top and fun to open front door. I could see a child spending a lot of time taking the little books out and putting them back in, or maybe using them to make stacks or walls. A better toy than reading experience, though the cardboard may not hold up for long against rough play.

A counting book that piqued my interest as it started to trace the origins of one Pooh's honey in two pots back through the three bees and four flowers that helped produce it. But it couldn't land the ending, giving us simply five Pooh friends on the final page just waving hello instead of planting the flowers or something else like that to tie it together. So close!
