George Vithoulkas

Read for AP English right before the movie came out. Not a huge fan of war books/movies but this one was interesting mostly due to the strong/prominent female characters.

Definitely a decent read.

This novel would have been a million times better without the epilogue. If it ended right after the last chapter, then this book would have been fantastic. But it seems so cliche to have Ada and Inman have a daughter from the four days they were back together. He died but he lived on through his daughter. It didn't quite portray the effects of the war like the rest of the book. The epilogue didn't do the novel justice.

I know the critics loved it; I know it's based on mythology. But I found this book dull and in the end I couldn't help but think "I read this whole book for this?"
