Along with watching this video, you may wish to consult "The 'Dragon-Slayer' Saints of the Eastern Orthodox Church" found at

https://scottnevinssuicide.wordpress.com/2015/04/26/the-dragon-slayer-saints-of-...

This article is preceded by a note which states, "The following article is a brief compilation of dragon accounts found in the Synaxarion of pre-Schism Orthodox Saints. Though some Orthodox commentators interpret these incidents as allegorical—either symbolizing the devil, paganism, or heresy—the fact remains that many of the Synaxarion of both Eastern and Western Saints before the Great Schism contain accounts of dragons, satyrs, centaurs, and other mythological creatures."

The article then goes on to list the following pre-Great-Schism saints who, according to tradition, dealt with dragons by either slaying them, domesticating them, our banishing them:

Saint Daniel the Prophet
Saint Thomas the Apostle
Saint Philip the Apostle
Saint Martha of Bethany
Saint Clement, Bishop of Metz
Saint Beatus, Apostle of Switzerland
Saint Quirinus of Vaux-sur-Seine, France
Saint Bienheure of Vendome, France
Saint Julian, Bishop of Le Mans, France
Saint Crescentinus of Umbria, Italy
Saint Marina (Margaret of Antioch)
Saint Ammon of Nitria
Saint Sylvester I, Bishop of Rome
Saint Donatus of Arezzo
Saint Hilarion the Hermit
Saint Mercurialis, Bishop of Forli, Italy
Saint Marcellus, Bishop of Paris
Saint Keyne of Somersetshire
Saint Vigor, Bishop of Bayeux
Saint Leonard of Limousin, France
Saint Samson of Dol, Brittany
Saint Serf (Serbán or Servanus) of Scotland
Saint Veranus, Bishop of Cavaillon, France
Saint Carantoc of Wales
Saint Romain of Rouen, France
Saint Hermentaire, Bishop of Draguignan

The article notes that this is not a complete list of dragon encounters in hagiographic accounts. It, like this video, demonstrates there was a widespread belief in dragons in ancient times. It also points out that many of the Holy Fathers, such as Saint Photios the Great, Saint Athanasios the Great, Saint John of Damascus, Saint Ephrem the Syrian, Saint Basil the Great, and Saint John Chrysostom, wrote about the real existence of creatures, which many, if not most, at this present time consider mythological. Dragons are certainly among those creatures, now considered mythical, which many, if not all, of the Holy Fathers regarded as real.

The documentary "Dragons or Dinosaurs?" will have served its purpose for the viewer if it can but open the viewers mind to possibilities often excluded by current limits of the scientific method and theoretically-conceived frameworks. What if these so-called “scientific” notions are faulty? They may well be faulty by failing to take into account actual encounters with creatures previously called “dragons,” which may indeed accord with what we now call “dinosaurs.” In acknowledging this possibility, we must not deny the spiritual dimensions of the saints’ encounters with these creatures. The malignant and destructive dragons confronted by the saints seem not to be simply wild animals, but reptilian creatures somehow associated with or possessed by evil spiritual forces or, perhaps, embodying them. Though we may not agree with everything in this video (funded by the Producers of the dreadful “Left Behind: the Movie”), this documentary does bring up some intriguing questions worthy of consideration in light of Orthodox Christian tradition.

All that said, belief about dragons or dinosaurs has never been and probably never be a litmus test of one's orthodoxy. Believing whether or not humans ever saw live dinosaurs probably has little if anything to do with faith in Jesus Christ, Who is One of the Holy Trinity. Furthermore, belief in a divinely-directed process of evolution seems not to disqualify one from being an Orthodox Christian.
