The best of speeking tree di times of india
good
A really remarkable book and the best photography book I know of for pre-Independence India. It records the temples, mosques, tombs and palaces. But more important it contains hundreds of pictures of Indians going about their everyday business - a real treasure trove for ethnographers and histrorians. It is arranged by province, including those now a part of Pakistan. The chapters on Ceylon, Burma, and Nepal are small but also interesting.
