Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It

I Picked Up This Book Because: It was a gift

Charlamagne is a radio personality I know of but I wouldn’t say I’m a fan. I’ve listened to many donkey of the day clips and a few other interviews with the Breakfast Club but morning radio isn’t really my thing. I spend much more time listening to audiobooks which is how I read this.

Charlamagne gives tons of great advice in this book. He also backs it up with examples from his own life. I found chapters 6 and 10 to be particularly inspiring.

*****HIGHLY RECOMMEND*****

I recommend this to upper-high school students/dropouts, college (college-aged) students...basically anyone over the age of 17. Charlamagne his the nail on the head with his 8 steps to reaching your dreams, and I loved every second of this book! I listened to the audiobook in less than 24 hours!! I laughed, I nodded my head in agreement, and just all around FELT this book!

I loved how he went about giving advice, telling his story, and just being REAL!

I wish I could house this book in my high school library, but because it's VERY adult...I am positive someone would challenge it; however, that doesn't mean I won't recommend it! ;)

I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook version of this book. I paused at many occasions to take notes and save ideas. The message of believing that we are all unique and control our own destiny is amazing. Additionally, speaking the truth that we need to open ourselves up to those opportunities as they come is incredibly important. At a couple of points, Charlamagne talks about speaking things into existing, and I truly believe that bringing it to our attention that we do not take the opportunities that we need to take in order to create our futures is the most important truth in the book.… (altro)
