I loved this book! I took my time with it and read one chapter a day (with breaks between days) and journaled a lot as I read through this. This is so relatable on so many different levels, I found myself going "Yes! She gets me! Exactly!!" I love all the personal stories in here and the scriptures used were perfect. This is definitely one I'll be reading many, many times.

My small group at my church went through this book and we watched the videos that came along with the book and did the exercises included. I liked the book but I didn't love it. I liked the stories and examples used in this book, mainly because I learn best through stories and examples and I liked that she shared her own personal stories of mistakes and progress she's made. However I just couldn't relate to some of the examples in the book. Like when she talked about her credit card not being accepted and just from that she started thinking "You're nothing but a loser. You are unwanted. You are unloved. You are so disorganized. You are poor. You are not acceptable. You are not approved." How do you start thinking you're a loser who's unwanted and unloved just because your card was declined? I would have just thought either "it's a mistake" or "I'm terrible with finances" (which I know I am), but I would never start thinking I'm unloved or unwanted because my credit card was declined, that seems like a pretty far stretch to me. What I liked most about the book is that she emphasizes making imperfect progress. It's not about learning to be perfect, it's about making progress and taking steps to control our emotions. There will be days when I still mess up but as long as I keep trying and making progress, that's what counts. Overall it was a pretty good book and I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.… (altro)
