The book is the start of a new series by April Taylor. At first, we wonder what, exactly, is Alexa Bentley? Is she a psychic or a medium, or perhaps a bit of both. She can talk to ghosts and everywhere she goes, she finds them, or they find her. She knows these abilities are simply a part of who and what she is...always has been and she can’t change. Alexa heads off to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, to a small town where nothing unusual ever happens...but she finds out that it does and has been, unknown to the residents, for some time. Her task here is to get Mrs. Felton, a recently departed soul, to move on. While working on this she discovers that quite a few teens have gone missing over the past several years. Now we add to the mix a Native American supernatural creature...a sheriff with something to hide... and a professor. Alexa now has her hands full. Her goal now is to solve the mystery of the missing people before it happens to anyone else...and she wants to know exactly what is the sheriff’s big secret? This was a great read. It had everything that makes up a good spooky mystery... supernatural things goings on, plenty of ghosts, a bit of romance and surprisingly, a whole lot of humor, all wrapped up in an easy read. It has plenty of action and a few twists that you never see coming. There are some more serious subject matters covered, and it's done very well. The characters are great, easy to relate to and very likable. Do you get the idea that I really liked this book? The story hooks you enough to make you want to read the next one. I know that I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.… (altro)

2.5 stars. The concept was great, but this book really didn't do it for me.

Pretty good

Anna lives in Corvo Hollows, a suburb of Detroit Michigan she lives alone with a few cats, in a quaint apartment community. Anna had suffered from mental illness and a breakdown in the past but has since gotten much better with medication and she also sees her therapist weekly. Things seem quite pleasant in her little apartment community for the most part until one day a strange woman with her hair all askew and her eyes looking all as crazy as the woman was acting, tries to get in her home and the next thing Anna knows the woman and her boyfriend are moving into the apartment community where Anna is living. Things really start happening when they move in and get stranger as each day goes by. The book flowed very smoothly and it is definitely a page turner. I highly recommend this to all psychological thriller readers. Parts of this book were taken from actual events that a friend of the authors had gone through .… (altro)

Yeah, don't trust the hype. This book was tamer than anything I have read this year. It was like a third grader who tries to be "scary". AND, it isn't because I am jaded, it was because the reviews all said that it was "the scariest book I have ever read, and it could happen".

And it wasn't really about a sinkhole.

The "Planet" decided that there were too many people, so the trees, the Earth, and the animals decided to stage a week long coup and rid the planet of half the population.

The book is about three groups of people who have to try and stay alive. There is an anticipation that there will be horror and gore, but the most gore I read was about a woman who got shot in the head while laying in a puddle of filth.

Don't waste your time. Even your 5th grader could read this without a trace of fear.

No zombies, No real horror, just a story about people who are trying to get away from the troubles that apparently they brought on themselves by the fact that they are human and the plants, animals, and other non-human, non-animal beings of Earth decided to thin the herd.
