Caroline gets invited to a sail on an America's Cup yacht hosted by an investment advisor for her clients. She's murdered and Caroline wants to help investigate because she believes the police have arrested the wrong man. Her police detective boyfriend, Hank, is jealous of her new friendship with Jon who she met on the sail and is helping her because he believes in the innocence of Teddy.
This book was a page-turner. A visit from an old friend to Caroline Kent's Inn and a night at the Black Pearl with Caroline and her boyfriend Lt Hank Knightengale ends the next morning with Meredith found dead in Caroline's car. The plot reveals that Meredith had a secret pass and a new identity. The duo works to figure out what she was hiding and where in the Inn she hid a very important document. Lots of surprises and twists in this book, my favorite of three in the series.
2nd in the Caroline & Hank Newport Series. This time Caroline is at a cocktail party for an upcoming wedding and the groom collapses and is determined. The bride befriends Caroline much to Louise's concerns. After several wrong leads and Hank's effort to find out who poisoned him. there's a thrilling chase scene at the end.
Widowed Caroline Kent has opened her husband’s family home as an Inn in order to afford the taxes and upkeep on the mansion in Newport. The Hargreaves family has booked a weekend as a 40th anniversary celebration for the head of the family. On the second day, Maurice is murdered in the gazebo and all the family members are suspect. The detective assigned to the case is attracted to Caroline. This was an interesting mystery although it got a little repetitive during the police interview process.… (altro)
