- A native of Washington DC, Sullivan's essays have appeared in The Washington Post, Newsweek, The Baltimore Sun and the peer-reviewed Ethnic and Racial Studies. He has published two novels in Germany's most distinguished series, Die Andere Bibliothek, and a book on Karl Marx's legacy for Routledge IDEAS. In the 1990s, he also worked in the conflict zones of the Caucasus and the oil region of West Siberia.
His awards include Discovery Award (Hollywood Film Festival), 20 Best Novels of the Year, (Hamburg City Library), and Staff Pick of the Month, (Politics and Prose Book Store), Washington DC. He holds a B.A. in Russian studies from Middlebury College, and a PhD in political philosophy from Oxford University.
