Ravi Subramanian

The Bankster is a thriller combining banking misdemeanours, money laundering and international intrigue by the banker turned author Ravi Subramanian.
My feeling is that the author has tried to put too many things together and, as a result, has failed to do justice to half of them. The banking business is his home ground, and that part is quite nicely written. But the international conspiracy does not gel well with the rest of the story, and the end product is far from satisfactory.
In spite of the fast paced narrative and the engaging writing, the many loose threads and the abrupt ending make it just an okay read.… (altro)

This is my fourth read by this author and I'm yet to be impressed... This one, like the others I've read, starts off well enough but, as the story progresses, gets tedious and repetitive. The plot is good for a longer short-story, or a novella, and definitely not enough for a full length novel. There are several editorial errors, too. The author's pride regarding his first, bestselling novel, If Good was a Banker, is understandable. But, to mention that title more than once in this novel is a bit too much. To top it all, the author has tried to make a cameo appearance through a character with the same name!
To summarise, this one is an average read that would have been more enjoyable in a much shorter format.… (altro)
