Profusely illustrated tour of the world. Each of the ten volumes (and supplemental volumes, of which I have 3) contains three "lectures", i.e. stops on the world tour. So interesting to see now-historic views of famous places as they were over 100 years ago. I've barely had a chance to browse a few volumes, but so far the most notable photograph was an interior view of the Louvre in the days when art galleries hung pictures from floor to very tall ceilings. Did people bring opera glasses to the museum?… (altro)
A famous and fabulous apologetics book; written as the story of one man's 40-year search for Truth. How he went from being a Protestant seminary student to an agnostic to a Catholic (late in life). Answers intelligently all the basic arguments against the Faith.
A real old-fashioned nineteenth century aesthete devotes his life to touring the world in style and describing his exquisite sensations as he goes. Fun for a while but gets old.
