Werner Spies has been a professor of 20th century art since 1975 at the Kunstakademie in Dusseldorf. He is head of the Musee National d'Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou, Paris and is the editor of the Max Ernst catalogue raisonee. Dieses Buch stellt den Skulpturen schaffenden Künstler Max Ernst dar. Es zeigt die Geschichte und die Wercke dieses Künstlers. Wichtig ist dabei auch das provokante Element in seiner Kunst. So wurde eine seiner ersten Ausstellungen in Deutschlöand von den Kritikern zerrissen.
