This is an informational book for primary or intermediate grades. The media is all photography. This book introduces Israel's culture as a land of faith, extensively touching on the religions prevalent there, the buildings of significance, religious holidays, customs, etc. The book includes parts about religious art and architecture, clothing, recreational activities, language and communication, as well as a bit about peace in the land. Throughout the book are vocabulary words bolded and later defined in the included glossary. There is also an index. This book is a good example of informational because it includes facts and real pictures of real people and places, but it does not include citations. I felt that this was okay for this book because it was mostly about concepts of religion, which cannot always be cited.
This book did not utilize any noticeable elements of style because it was informational rather than a literary piece.
This book could be used in a study on the world religions.
This book could be used in a lesson or unit about culture and tradition around the world.

Her experience with her missing child deepened her understanding of the relationship that she has with her heavenly Father.

from notecard for class in 2004:

Rating: 2 (out of a 3 star system?)

Summary: Whitney and her extended family go to an amusement park and she gets left behind briefly. The illustrations are ok, but since it is based on a true story, it upsets me when characters have the wrong color hair (That's a nit-picky thing, but since I'm a Michael W. Smith fan, that's the reason I bought the book, and the illustrations look nothing like his family.)
