Forward to Camelot: 50th Anniversary Edition by Susan Sloate

Set in the year 2000 Cady Cuyler is an actress , a bit down on her luck. She is approached with a very unusual offer. To travel back in time to November 22, 1963 and retrieve the Bible of President John F. Kennedy. Although skeptical, Cady decides to take the offer, what does she have to lose?

Back in 1963 she meets her parents (she was not born until 1964) Lee Harvey Oswald, along with John & Jackie Kennedy. Soon she uncovers secrets and she is realizing things are not as they have been told (in history). It will be up to Cady and her new friends to try to save the President. Sometimes things must change, even if it alters history.

A fascinating time-travel story. I liked the concept behind the attempted assassination of President Kennedy. Stories of his assassination have been told my entire life. I really liked Cady, and the whole idea of this story. I feel History lovers as well as those who love a great time-travel will enjoy Forward to Camelot: 50th Anniversary Edition.

Set in the 1980's Amanda Harary is young and working for a prestigious hotel. Her dreams are to some day be on Broadway way performing. While working as the hotel operator she strikes up some late night (phone) conversations with sixty year old Beau Kellogg, a well known lyricist.

Soon their relationship turns into more than friendship. Amanada can't keep her mind off of the dashing older man. Beau is desperately trying to revive his career and finds something special in Amanda. Will the two achieve what they want out of life? Find the careers they desire, and will they be able to make their relationship work or will it lead to self destruction?

An unlikely love match between Amanda and Beau made it interesting. I liked Amanada, even though was flawed. I liked that she was not the typical beautiful strong young lady, she has other qualities about her that were likable. At times I was not sure if I liked Beau, or if he was just so misunderstood.

I feel that those who love Romance will enjoy Stealing Fire.

Review: This book is a great beginning chapter book. There are illustrations to go along with the book. There is a lot of writing but it is an easy read for children who know how to read.

Summary: This book is about the history of Thanksgiving. As the story goes on it mentions how Thanksgiving became a national holiday. There is a woman named Sarah Hale and she was a very important person when it came to making Thanksgiving a holiday. It goes through Sarah's whole life and the struggles that she went through.

Argument: I really enjoyed reading this book. I had no idea who Sarah Hale was or how Thanksgiving became a national holiday. There were illustrations throughout the story of Sarah and Thanksgiving.
I think the purpose of writing this story was to teach children the story of Thanksgiving while working on their reading skills at the same time.
