Breve biografia
Christian Slade is best known as the artist and author of the graphic novel series Korgi. Even though he grew up in New Jersey and California and currently resides in Florida, it is at his art desk and in the pages of his sketchbook where he really lives. Drawing upon his travels and life experiences, Christian uses traditional media such as pen and ink, and watercolor to create his narrative artwork. and has created pictures for the monthly Ricky and Pals story in Ranger Rick Jr magazine for over nine years. Christian is also a prolific plein air artist and sketchbook enthusiast. Many of these personal and experimental works are in private collections around the world and for sale here on this website. He lives in Winter Garden Florida with his wife Ann and their twins Kate and Nate. Website

Wordless but holding amazing illustrations, this is a collection from a well-loved series, which opens up to a world of monsters, adventure, and cute corgis.

This collection includes all five of the Korgi graphic novels as well as several short adventures. Each of the five books begins with a short and entertaining introduction, which does happen through text...but those are the only words during the adventure. Each moment is brought across through very detailed and extremely well-crafted, black and white line drawings. These are more demanding on the eyes than the illustrations usually found in graphic novels, in so far that they take more time to take in and digest. And it's well worth the extra time, especially since these do carry the entire tale in every way.

This is sold for children but will also satisfy older readers and some adults. The story isn't fluffy and happy, but rather, packs fantasy and adventure. The monsters take a creepy lean, which fits right with the illustration style to make each one come across with that dark atmosphere of off-ness. There is a hint of gore without really going there completely (an eyeball pops out and flies away), and while this might bother more sensitive readers, others will find the edged fantasy just right. The main characters fight off the danger and land in some pretty sticky situations, which bring exciting action scenes. It is a positive read with promises of hope and even will bring smiles and cuteness at the right moments.

There is a list of characters with descriptions at the end, which I do wish had been shoved to the front of the novel, instead, but that's only a side thought. It's an exciting adventure with an unexpected lean toward darkish fantasy (think The Labyrinth), which is sure to grab more than just corgi fans.
I received a DRC and didn't expect the style presented in these pages but enjoyed it quite a bit.

The phrase short and sweet was created for this collection of comics and Sprout the Korgi (magical, adorable, fire-breathing corgi, obviously). This is truly a greatest hits of everything great about the Korgi comics condensed into a whole bunch of wonderful little moments!

Last year I became an absolute evangelist for using a library card and Libby app to instantly gain access to thousands of comics for free! One of those comics I randomly came across was volume one of the five that make up Christian Slade's truly wondrous, cozy, bizarre, and unbelievably gorgeous comics, which I absolutely devoured and recently got the physical versions as a birthday present because I loved the so much.

Beware me knocking on your door asking if you have a moment to talk about our lord and saviour, Sprout!

This is perfection. This is what peak performance looks like.

The only complaints I have is wanting more and complaining that the physical copies of this particular collection either don't exist in the UK or cost a bajillion pounds to import.

The world is dark and awful. I adore dark and sad books. Sometimes I need a break from these things and is always a warm hug.

Art is not a competition or something can win, but if it was Korgi would take every medal and award.

I remain utterly flabbergasted at how rich the storytelling is, purely conveyed by images, and how just how beautiful and details the black and white sktch art is. Truly a wondrous, joyous book and series that makes the world a significantly brighter and now magical place simply through existing.

I'm also absolutely loving the increasing sci-fi/ science fantasy elements and tie emerging ongoing emerging narrative with the eldtirch alien whose crashed spaceship was seen in the first volume.… (altro)

Christian Slade's Korgi comics continue to be a perfect mix of cute, cozy, bizarre, and potent magic!

The art is divine, the silent storytelling is exquisite, and I genuinely do not think I could possibly love these comics any more than I already do!

Korgi is my safe and warm happy place is a world that making me increasingly blackpilled and hopeless.
