Ah, what a book. To read that I subsidized the animal cruelty industry, I mean factory farming industry, when I was working and paying taxes, despite being vegetarian, and then vegan, for the last 6 years, is infuriating.

Simon proposes a Meat Tax to be paid on any animal products, to pay for the externalized costs of animal agriculture. Externalized costs are what meat producers shift onto humans and animals and the planet. It could work, but what makes me despondent is that the author is preaching to the choir. Only people who already care about animals and health and the planet will read this book. So? Here's a hint: don't have babies; you'll condemn them to growing up on a depleted planet.… (altro)
