Altogether readable.. no more I suppose
Near future Mil SciFi, as a cold war goes 'mutually assured destruction' hot.
Supposedly 700 years into the future but it doesn't really feel like it, Earth has space colonies within the solar system but they don't really play a role so far. The major difference is anti-aging and pre- or post-birth genetic treatments are real, and the world split into 2 blocs who went either the capitalist or a more communist way about who benefits (those who can afford it or serve one or more terms in the military for it, vs everyone with a solid dose of indoctrination 'for the common good').… (altro)

The media concludes that these signals must be of an alien origin. Still reeling from the news, Logan gets a phone call from his brother-in-law. Richard is talking crazy about the end of the world again, but this time he doesn't sound so crazy.
A DEADLY CONSPIRACY UNRAVELS
Meanwhile, Richard, who is an astronomer working with the James Webb Space Telescope, is at the White House briefing the president to announce what he and the government have known for almost a decade: aliens are not invading, a frozen ball of gas is. The so-called rogue star is predicted to make a near pass with Earth, disrupting our orbit and unleashing an ice age, the likes of which we haven't seen for millions of years.

Humanity will need seeds to plant in the ashes after the chaos clears.
AND WARS IGNITE

Not really SF, this collection of mostly independent novels are all about the ACTION. The first 2 are in series, the other three are unrelated; I quit each one partway through, and didnt finish any of them. Aside from #2, which I skipped entirely.
