Forgiveness has been something the Lord has really been working on in my life the last few years. Namely, there was a time in my marriage where we really needed to focus on forgiveness. Then, in 2020, I have sough restitution with an old friend of mine. There was a lot of past hurt and I needed to move past it, to acknowledge the pain in my own life.....and not dismiss my feelings.....and then seek forgiveness.

This book has stories from Elizabeth Smart, Sue Kleibold, victims of Larry Nassar, so on and so on. They all have something in common. They have been called on to forgive. Heinous acts have been committed to them. Forgiveness is a choice. Moving on is a choice.

The stories are inspiring. They are not Christian necessarily. But Katherine's background as both a Catholic (and Chris Pratt's Christianity) are evident in her feelings regarding the stories she shares. The book does get a bit redundant (I found myself skipping a few stories; I think there were a few too many). Still, it was a book I needed to read this 2020.

Oh boy. I feel like forgiveness has gone out of style right now

Even though I didn’t learn anything new, I will pass this book on to someone in need.

It could be a good resource for a teenager or a young adult who has unresolved anger (hurt/fear) over past trauma. However, someone would have to explain more than this book supplies.

First sentence: Kat sits on the floor of her bedroom. Her new room, which will be just for her. She slides on her pink fluffy slippers and looks up at her younger sister. "Tina," she says, "tonight I get to sleep in my big girl room for the very first time!"

Premise/plot: Kat and Tina are sisters. Kat has a new 'big girl' room. Tina remains behind in their old room. She's nervous about sleeping alone. Kat is confident that Tina will be okay. She even gifts her all her old stuffed animals. [There's a cheese-ful rhyme]. But when a thunder storm comes, whom will comfort whom????

My thoughts: I liked the premise. It felt relatable. It can be a big adjustment to go from sharing a room to NOT. The text is all cheese. It's certainly serviceable. It's not awful. It's just not super-fantastic. Definitely feels a bit Full House-ish.

This is a fantastic children's book. I love the story and the illustrations. This really makes me want to adopt a pet. That is what I did when I got my last cat. This made me laugh and cry. I think that little children and parents will fall in love with this story. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
