Eric es un niño de diez años que vive en Alemania. Él y su madre han nacido allí, pero su padre es africano y Eric a veces se siente rechazado por el color de su piel. I did not like this book at all. One reason I did not like this book was because it was too busy. There were a lot of words mixed with pictures and it was very hard for me to focus while trying to find meaning. The pictures were very odd and dull in color and did not grasp my attention at all.
Another reason I did not like this book was because of its word choice. I thought that the sentences were very confusing at times. They often mirrored the illustrations – being all over the place and it was very hard for me to follow.
Although I was not a fan of this book, I did like how the author tried to add a new style into her illustrations. She used shiny paper throughout the book to catch the reader’s eye. However, I don’t know what the paper had to do with the story, but it was a nice change of texture on the books pages.
The main character, Rikki, wanted a pet that could fly, be cuddly, be fierce, and be small or large. Her parents told her that was not possible, but her imagination told her otherwise. The main idea of this story is when Rikki went to bed, she dreamed about having this pet. She didn’t listen to what her parents said and she went and had an adventure full of fun and scary moments with her pet monster.… (altro)

Ich weiß zwar net was sich die Autorin dabei gedacht hatte, aber sicher nichts gutes.
Das Buch reicht nicht mal dafür aus, sich damit ein Feuerchen zu machen. Die Story wird mehr oder weniger angerissen und nicht gerade auf stilvolle Art und Weise weitergeführt oder sogar richtig beendet. Die Protagonisten werden Schemenhaft beschrieben und die Dialoge sind mehr schlecht als recht.
Das Buch hat meiner Meinung nach eigentlich sehr viel Potential was nicht mal im entferntesten ausgeschöpft wurde. Ein Sozialkritisches Thema wird zwar angeboten und aber überhaupt nicht behandelt. Das wäre damit zu Vergleichen wenn ich in ein Resturant gehen, Fisch bestellen und dafür Kalb bekommen würde. Der Titel scheint auch frei gewählt worden zu sein. So wie Wäscheleine oder Hauptstraße.

Im Endeffekt nicht ausgereift und sehr enttäuschend für die Leute die dafür Geld ausgegeben haben.
