This was such a sad story but the little boy, Carmine, was so brave. He's 10 and has AIDS. His mother gave it to him before he was born and she died when he was 1. His grandmother takes care of him and his uncle, who also has AIDS. He also had another uncle, who was homosexual, and died of AIDS. He tells his story and how it effects him. It's sad that he knew he was dying but he wasn't scared. I think he died months after the author got her information. It's always harder when the story is told from the point of view of a child.… (altro)

Where do i even begin? Carmine is a 10 year old boy that suffers with AIDS. His mother gave him the disease during birth and she died soon after. His 67 year old grand mother takes care of him and she has been raising him since birth. Carmine is a very bright young boy who loves to learn, even though he cant attend school. This story touched my heart and it even made me tear up, especially at the end when I found out that Carmine passed away.

I found this book to be very informative on AIDS/HIV. The story follows a young child who was born with AIDS. The story follows his day to day struggles as well as showing what a normal kid he is. Everything in the book was very blunt, from telling readers how its spread to why. The end of the book was very sad. The little boy admits that he is aware that he is dying but hopes a cure is found soon. The epilogue confirms this, telling readers that Carmine died in 1996.
