At first, I actually felt sorry for Rockwell; he loses his family and finances, and finally his life, for his beliefs. Then, of course, you remember his beliefs included the murder of the vast majority of American jews, the deportation of Afro-Americans to Africa, and other assorted crimes. "Hate" covers Rockwell's life well, although perhaps goes into the minitie too much. You learn what makes him tick and why he believed what he did.

While at times one thinks Schmaltz delves too deeply into Rockwell's life you certainly can't claim that any of Rockwell's life is a mystery.… (altro)

A account of the losers, users, bullies and thugs who are drawn to such an empty ideology, and a case study of projection worthy of a William Kristol, a Bill Orally or a Rush Limbaugh. It tells of men, small, small men, who want to be "Big Men", and how empty and unfulfilled their lives always are.
