Paul Schaefer

Paul Schaefer published this periodical as part of his efforts to protect the Adirondack Park and Catskills from encroachment. Most prominent was the fight against new reservoirs in the west central Adirondacks. Schaefer was able to mobilize significant opposition to this project through this magazine which was published erratically over the years. The collection has several almost complete runs which he bound and presented to various luminaries in the fight as well as a number of loose issues. The result is complete runs of this very important publication. There are also several "bulletins" separately published. The Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks has used "The Forest Preserve" as a magazine title and had a strong relationship with Schaefer.… (altro)
