The beginning of this book seemed like a pretty complete review of evolutionary thinking in social science from the 19th century to the present. However, I found the final 100 pages of this book more interesting than the early parts. There the author compares social and biological evolution, outlines the limits and the potential of evolutionism in social science and finally presents his own theoretical contribution to evolutionism. This is an educating book on many levels, it has an admirably broad anthropological and historical scope and I recommend it.… (altro)
