This is a book that easily shows a beginning Mah Jongg player the basics - the tiles that are used, the way the hands are played and also a good description of how to read the requirements of the MJ card for American Mah Jongg.

I have been playing Mah Jongg for several decades and am trying to teach some friends the game so I picked up this book for ideas on how to indoctrinate them into this fun game. There were several very interesting ideas on how to choose your hand and choosing your discards as well but I think it is more geared toward a intermediate player rather than novice.
