There nothing new to this sequel, however it is needed for the series to help avenges the plot.

Does Max and co. find the women leaving the beacons behand?

Do they make it to Baton Rouge?

Do they find Bell?

Along with find the humans seems a little too much to end the series. Each side plot does bring them closer to the humans. I do like the characters and how they meet other dogs and animals that they never seen before on their journey.

I’m glad it didn’t end like the second book with a dog dying.

The Last Dogs is a well structure series. Each book serves a purpose in move the plot along. None of them felt like a filler for the sake of having four books in a series.

The ending is not some bloody battle but, a lot of action leading up to the end. The author knows his audience.

The flaws to the series are that the varies take a back seat in the story. We are not given any detail of how the varies affects everyone. Perhaps to make it less scary for kids, that understandable.
Dolph doesn't feels like villain. He just someone to chase in order to keep them going.

All the characters Max, Rocky, and Gizmo meet are interesting and memorable but, only get to see them for one book or a few chapters. I would like to have seen them again.

It seems like MG dystopian and post-apocalypse are lighthearted or end on a hopeful note. Don't get me wrong there are some dark moments.
If you find YA and adult dystopian/post-apocalypse depressing. Give MG a try if your open to a story being a story no matter the age.

The whole Last Dogs series is a five star read.

The journey continues. Max, Rocky, and Gizmo slowly flout down the river. Soon they come to a moored riverboat.
This is a great squeal. I like all the different zoo animals that are introduces and all the action handle nicely. About mid way through the book they discover why the humans left. It not a clear idea why. Instead your not waiting a whole nether book to find out. Keeping the story engaging.
Boss dying at the end repeated what happen in the first. Hopefully it not going repeat in the next book. Madam dying was heartbreaking. I like Boss but, that should be it. It will be ruined a toughing moment.

This is one the best squeals.

Note I going to rate the whole series in one review on my blog.

15/20 = 5 *stars*

My Blog

For quite a few years I had push this book back and back on my TBR. Now I have finally read it and it quite good. From the start there something going on that make you question where all the people are, what happen to them. As Max and Rocky travel, they learn different version from other dogs and animals of what happen yet, not getting the full picture which adds to the mystery.

I like how Max grows as a leader with each challenges they face. Rocky a dachshund think he comes up with everything and then their Gizmo a Yorkshire Terrier who is optimistic and brave to stand up to anyone who bigger than her.

I would like to see more flews in Max to show that he struggles being the leader. There not much character development but, this is only the first book in a series. It a great start and I would like to see where this go next.

Points:

Characters: 4/5

Plot: 5/5

Writing 5/5 - I listen to this on audio and I like how the speaker act out the voices for each c

character.

Bous Points:

1 - At first is seen like Rocky is the one cracking every joke. As I read further there was a bit of
humor from each character.

Total: 15/20 = 5 *stars*

This is why stubbornly unhul books I haven’t read. Ones I set my mind to read something I know I will read it.
