A pagan cult on Holy Island of all places. A pacy detective story with several murders, love interest and a quirky setting. A good read but daft really.

Not bad, but I could have done without the extended sessions featuring gleeful killer and struggling victim. But that's what ff is for. Also Ryan comes up with some really awful dramatic statements like..."I just hope we catch him before he kills again"... oy vey. The studio narrator suffers from the same problem. Plus the real villain is easy to spot and so was his last victim. Which brings me to a thing I hate in fiction - to create a character for the sole purpose of providing a victim or leverage for the bad guy to use against the hero. It's manipulative and insulting to the reader if she is conned into actually caring about that character. It's a cheat. Don't do it writers. Natalie's victimization no doubt sets up Ryan's troubled nature in future books. He probably has nightmares or some such and is plagued with doubt and guilt forever. Bleah. Psychiatrist and profiler Dr Alexander Gregory is called to help investigate a murder in a small Irish village.

Rather plodding, pedestrian, prose and 2/3 of the way through I'd already worked out who the murderer was. I'd also worked out the final big reveal early on. I might give her other series a go at some point, but I'm in no hurry to seek it out.
