I received this book as part of the Early Reviewers Program and let it sit for a long time. When I finally got to it I found it was a great read and very exciting. I'm still wondering as to the motivation of the characters and the "spy". It certainly makes the British Embassy seem like a very insecure place at the end of WWII. The story of how the book was discovered, edited, and published by the main author's niece was almost as interesting as the story. It took me a few minutes to realize that the introduction was not part of the novel. This book is well worth the reader's time!… (altro)

Requiem for a Spy by Richard Miles and Jill Rose was an interesting story set in the 40's and 50's. The story revolves around a British naval officer assigned to the British Embassy in Washington D.C. during WWII and the period after the war. The story involves the Russian attempts to gather information on the atomic bomb and the various Russian spies that existed in the British Intelligence Services at that time.

I received this eBook as part of the Early Reviewers program. A cold war novel, albeit at the very beginning of the cold war (end of WWII and next 1-2 years) with a triangle of intrigue centered on atomic weapons. Reminds me a bit of some Len Deighton cold war novels , but instead of UK missions vs East Germany, the setting for most of this novel is in the USA. it is a fairly quick read, flows very well. i question the use of the term CIA (might be referenced before its 1947 stand-up), but all else is very believable. The author could have ended the novel with thoughts for a follow-on, however, since this was based in part on real life experiences - the novel concludes without a logical sequel.

How this novel came about is a great story in itself and the introduction well worth reading.

As well written a novel of cold war espionage as I have read, and I have read many. Highly recommended. Nicely detailed and paced quick enough to keep you reading late into the night. No heroes, no villains, or all heroes, all villains. Don't miss this one.

I received this eBook as part of the Early Reviewers program.
