Avon Published Romance Book in Name that Book (Gennaio 2016)

Solid story. This is part of the quest to read the first 100 HPs. This one is numbered 62 and was published in 1968. Familiar tropes? Why yes there were. Let's see sister runs off and leaves the heroine holding the baby. Baby's uncle shows up and heroine pretends to be the baby mama to keep the rich uncle from just walking off with the baby. Heroine refuses to sleep with the hero because he'll figure out he's the first guy to do the deed. He gets his nose bent way out of shape and conflict ensues. There was a slightly different ending than was quite normal for this set up. All in all a good solid read.… (altro)

An old favorite of mine. I'd like to find it again to see how well it holds up.

Reread review - So I read this thing when it first came out back in the 70s and have always remembered it. It didn't hold up as well as I would have wished. There was an awful lot of the story that wasn't actually about the relationship between the hero and the heroine. Not that I mind that all that much if it's well written and interesting which sadly was not the case here. Also because it was so old it was very dated. The hero was born during the second world war and a lot of the plot had to do with the cold war and so was not real pertinent. The heroine was a bit of a ninny and you didn't know the hero all that well. It was readable though.

Still, gypsies...so yay!

When botanist Tina Donnelly’s famous plant hunter Aunt Chris is hurt in an accident, Tina agrees to take her place on an expedition to the Amazon. Since they both have the same name and look somewhat alike, they think they can get away with it. Senor Ramon Vegas (also known as Caramuru, Man of Fire) is leading the expedition. At first, he finds Tina difficult. She can’t seem to get along with her fellow explorers, but that is because she isn’t very experienced and she is afraid she will give herself away if she talks too much. (She has hated the jungle ever since she was a child and her explorer parents took her all over the world to dangerous places.) What will Ramon do if he learns Tina’s secret?

I really enjoyed this jungle romance. Tina was quite spirited at times and stood up to the hero. I liked the part when Tina went deep into the jungle with Ramon to meet the herb doctor, he was quite creepy. Ramon was the usual Harlequin Presents hero, confident, arrogant, but likable too. I enjoyed Tina’s clashes with Doña Inez, a nurse also on the expedition who was interested in Ramon.

An entertaining Harlequin Presents from the 70’s by Margaret Rome.

Photographer-heroine Rebel goes to the Amazon with her professor father to help him with his latest book about the Amazonian Indians. There she meets their handsome explorer-guide hero Luiz, who is going to help them out, give them info about the Amazon jungle, show them around.

This was a really fun jungle romance with a headstrong (and sometimes TSTL) heroine who is in constant need of rescue, headhunters, a jealous witch doctor, and much more!

An enjoyable read!
