Wow what odd book.
Over 500 pages for a book that barely covers 4 days, and yet it is one of the quickest books I have ever sped through, sadly the author seemed to have struggled with how to end it.
The irony is he started writing it in 2019 before the pandemic.
On a random October day the power and anything with a computer chip or lithium battery stops working.
Cars stop, planes crash, and the Altman family and all of their problems and deep demons will rise to the surface, and well the reader, will laugh a lot.
The behavior of nearly everyone is exactly as we now know people will behave.
There are definitely many moments that are truly funny in this book.

This book has all kind of Adventure: on land, at sea & in the air. There are pirates (some good, some bad), rich villains, an older brother that bullies, and a nasty horrible tutor. All the adversaries a boy could want!
Although you may bite your nails through much of this story you will laugh as well.
Grab up this book and settle down for a beginning of a grand new series.

A great book for students to reflect on isolation and outcasting. Students can gain a better perspective on how new students might feel in a new school and creates a mirror for students that have gone through that. The book also includes a dystopian type government, which can be difficult for students to process, but can be beneficial to expose them to with the right guidance.
