Pat Robbins

I can't offer enough praise for this book. Pat Robbins conducted hours of interviews with Domunguria (i.e. Red-Spotted Ox) and worked with him to form the various personal stories and descriptions into a chronological narrative. Donumnguria's first person voice and personality come across loud and strong, but this is also the story of a culture. Songs, folktales, legends, religious beliefs and customs are all woven in with the story of Domunguria's life from childhood through middle age. The writing is clear and descriptive.
