dnf at 20%, worst kind of marry sue cliché fest.
There is no buildup, nothing, this one goes right into the *mate* *mine* trope with the most unbelievable instalove I have seen so far.
The protagonists have general characteristics but no consistency in their personalities past that.
Logic and reason went completely out the window and so did relatability based on human emotion even discounting logic.
The entire thing is a huge mess of contradictions that broke all suspension of disbelief in an eye blink for me.
Oh, and of course we have the *legendary chilli* and lots of other clichés of the sort.
This is just an accumulation of badass nice small American town tropes afaict.
To end on something somewhat positive: the writing itself is decent or even pretty good.
It's simple but easy to read. I would never have gotten so far into the book if the writing didn't go down so easily.
If you are here just for an extra-large portion of mate mine and don't care about anything else this might be enjoyable but if you anything more past that this probably will be a disappointment.… (altro)

OMG!!!!! WOW! What an amazing book!!! :D Vampires, werewolves & magic! Yes, please!! J I absolutely loved this book! This story was way more than I expected.

loved Fallon’s character. She’s smart and talented, powerful and resourceful and loyal to her friends. Brody is caring, protective, strong and powerful but not as skilled as Fallon. The supporting characters also were interesting and I really am looking forward to reading more about them in the next book.

I loved the storyline and the world the author has created. It was smooth, vibrant and well-balanced. I cannot wait for the next instalment. I definitely recommend this novel! It’s really one of those that you could barely put down!

In this prequel we get introduced to several characters that we meet the first book [b:In Too Deep|17825874|In Too Deep (Others of Edenton, #1)|Brandy L. Rivers|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1366472509s/17825874.jpg|24934389] - namely the wolf pack Alpha Slater and Fallons BFF and psychic friend Jess.

I have not read any of the other books in this series yet, but with the prequel I feel like this will be a fun and entertaining series to check out. All the characters that we get introduced to are interesting and to have Jess (psychic) see what might happen in their futures was cool.

Jess is a character who can hold her own. She is fierce, independent, and not afraid to voice her opinion and won’t take crap from anyone. I like my female leads to be fiery and kick ass.

Slater is HOT. He is dominant and sexy without the bossy side which I enjoyed.

I enjoyed the little spats Slater and Jess had as well as the Hot and Steamy sex. They mated before they new each other (mate bond opens up), but they managed to work everything out and find that they will/are equals/partners. The story line was well done from the time Jess left her old home up until the ending. I also liked the focus being on the wolf pack, giving us an insight into the inner workings and hierarchy.
