Loon and his mate spend the summer raising their loonlings, but one of the babies goes missing! Will they be able to find him? Reviewed by the Smithsonian Institution for accuracy, Loon at Northwood Lake is a fun and informative story with beautifully detailed illustrations.

While it is older and rather wordy, this book informs in detail the purpose of service dogs. It has real life stories from people with varying disabilities that may warrant them ownership of one of these wonderful dogs. I would tell more, but I'd rather y'all read it. It is an amazing book that teaches the purpose of dogs wearing their work vests, and it gives meaning. It is a conversation starter onto why we should never touch dogs with these vests.

Assistance Dogs in Special Service was about the different types of services dogs can provide. The book described dogs for the blind and dogs for the deaf. These dogs go through special training to become service dogs.
I feel like this book was out of date and an updated version needs to be put into the library. This book barley had any pictures in it and those pictures were very basic and clearly from another decade. The information presented about the dogs wasn’t very interesting and neither were the stories provided about them helping the disabled. I like the idea of the book, but this particular book needs to be taken out of the library. I would like to use a similar type book to discuss with students the idea of what special needs is and different ways those needs can be taken care of. The book didn’t talk about how service dogs can be used to help diabetics know when their sugar is low or to help detect a seizure.
This book was uninteresting to read and out of date.

I think this book is a good way to show students how people with disabilities receive help. It can show them how they use dogs, that we love to help make life easier.
