Andrew has a schedule, a routine, and his own place for everything at home. One day when he wake up, his routine is thrown completely off as his family adventures into the woods for a day hike. Andrew does not get his daily oatmeal and he is in a completely new environment. He is scared of the trees and scared of the cave and wants to go home, once he realizes that he is in a safe place, he begins to relax a little and have fun. But soon he tells his parents that though the woo are fun, he misses his oatmeal and he misses his toothbrush. They put him in his familiar car seat with his familiar blanket and he falls asleep as they head home. Great book about tying new things and deviating from normal toddler routines. Great for Agee 4-6.

Most of this story was a bit of a downer with the fathers abandoning their families, but the father does come home by the end so I liked that aspect. Otherwise, I wasn't that enthralled.
