Richter collects important essays to illustrate key trends and approaches to language and literature. Using both chronological and ideological approaches, he includes over 100 essays. Beginning with Platonic and Aristotelean ideas, he moves through ideas and eras to contemporary trends regarding current socio-political debates on canon formation.
