there are some excellent points in here and a lot to think about (and different things than i expected when i picked it up) so a good book for a group discussion. as a book, though, i thought it was very unevenly written and often focused on a less meaningful point or poorly drawn conclusion than it could have. over and over again i was annoyed.

that said i really love the way she wrote about, at the very very beginning of the book, the way language changes to reflect how we come to understand each other and stories: "But language inevitably evolves with time. A changing vocabulary reflects how a community's demographics transform the struggles a community faces during different periods in history. Language tells stories, and stories change."… (altro)
