Bait: A Yaoi Adventure is the story of Jinsei, a car thief, and Ishida Daijiro, the billionaire who’s Lamborghini Jinsei is ordered to steal.

This is the second book by this author I’ve read, the other being, The Good Doctor, and I enjoyed this one more. The reason was this one had a plot and was more romantic, even though it contained what I consider a rape scene. Ishida ties Jinsei up and forces him to have sex even though Jinsei tells him he’s a virgin and Ishida doesn’t take it easy on Jinsei. Ishida does pleasure him, but Jinsei is still forced and Ishida does it bareback, which makes it worse. After the final conflict scene happens, Jinsei confronts Ishida about the rape. Unfortunately, he’s easily swayed that it was okay when Ishida kisses him. Then, something happens even more importantly so Jinsei forgives Ishida. I won’t reveal the reason, but I understand how Jinsei felt that a payment of having Ishida rape him was nothing compared to what Ishida did for Jinsei in return. By the end of the story, it isn’t just sexual attraction between the two that keeps them together. They care deeply for each other, and that’s why I liked this story better than the other book I read.

What we learn about Jinsei is that he’s very beautiful and steals cars for Shibata who is Yakuza. Ishida knows this and its fun watching the plot unfold and how it ends up. This is a lust at first sight story, which ends in a HEA. I hoped the grammar issues from the other book would’ve lessened in this one, but it didn’t happen. There still were odd pov shifts and it seemed the pov shifts between characters were much more prevalent in this book than in the other book. Sometimes they happened every few paragraphs.

In the end, I liked this plot better, and I liked the characters better. Jinsei wasn’t a complete pushover. However, the grammar errors were still quite frequent and the author needs to get better betas and an editor. I give Bait: A Yaoi Adventure, 3 Stars

Kidnapping the Queen is a Yaoi fantasy about two high school students. Andre the handsome, hulking, skilled football player, and Taylor, a beautiful cross-dressing twink.

2.5 Stars

I’ve read three of this author’s Yaoi books these past couple of weeks and they are all different in terms of storyline. This is the cutest and sweetest. There’s lots of ust and no non-con. Sugary sweet, it’s adorable and I loved that about this story. But, the grammar errors did my head in! This book is overflowing with pov strangeness, like one moment we’re in Andre’s head listening to him tell us his thoughts, then suddenly we’re yanked out as he tells us that his gold eyes are blazing with lust. His eyes were an entity unto themselves. There was terrible tense usage, and the overuse of descriptors like, ‘the blond boy, the pretty boy,’ etc. Of the three books I’ve read, so far this is the worse in terms of grammar errors. If it wasn’t for the cute storyline, I’m not sure I could’ve finished this.

Andre told us his feelings so the readers got a good idea of how he felt about Taylor. Taylor and Andre make a good pair and the last chapter/epilogue was perfect.

I’m debating on how to rate Kidnapping the Queen. I want to give 2 Stars because of the poor writing and the overabundance of grammar errors, but 3 Stars for the cuteness and storyline. In the end, I’ll give it 3 Stars because I really enjoyed the plot. Be warned however, the writing needs an editor to fix the large number of problems.

Elevator Music is a total PWP, short story. It stars Saiki, the typical blond, blue-eyed, twink virgin, and an older, dominant man we don’t learn the name of until the end of the story.

I’m on a roll with reading this author’s stories over the last couple of weeks. It helps that the stories are short and amusing, because I certainly don’t read it for the writing quality.

Again, this book, like the author’s other ones, has numerous grammar mistakes with odd pov shifts. It also has the descriptors like ‘blond boy, dark-haired man, young boy,’ etc, used again repeatedly. I hoped the author’s writing would’ve improved over time or at least she would’ve gotten a better editor, but the same mistakes are made. However, this book has fewer errors than some of the other ones.

This story is pure PWP. Virginal Saiki is stuck in an elevator on the way to an extremely important job interview and ends up having hot sex with a man who’s also in the elevator. It’s clear who the man is to the readers, but it doesn’t matter. Saiki doesn’t care who the man is, only that there’s a connection between them. He has no qualms about getting deflowered in an elevator.

Cute story with less grammatical errors, but still too many so they’re noticeable and continually pulled me out of the story. Even though it’s good PWP in a short, I can only give Elevator Music, 3 Stars.

The Pool Rules is another Amelita Rae, Yaoi short story. This one stars Lance Powell, a lifeguard, and high school senior, Asher Tate.

This is a non-con, spanking short. I’ll explain my thoughts more on this later, but as usual, the MCs are the typical dark-haired, gold-eyed hunk, with the blond, blue-eyed twink. I’m wishing the author switched up the character’s looks a bit. In every book, they’re the same. Lance and Asher have known each other since Asher was little. Asher didn’t obey much when he was little, just like he doesn’t obey the pool rules now. This drives Lance crazy. It also drives Lance crazy because he lusts after Asher and he sets up a plan to punish Asher for disobedience and to give into his lust.

I like reading spanking stories. What I don’t like, is that Lance forced Asher to undergo the spanking when Asher was in pain and repeatedly told Lance to stop. That to me isn’t erotic, especially since the two didn’t agree upon it at the beginning. Yes, Lance said he’d give Asher a ‘punishment’ which Asher agreed to, but he didn’t tell him a physical punishment. He could’ve beaten Asher senseless. No thanks, this isn’t erotic consensual, this was physical abuse and I didn’t enjoy this at all. This story also still contained the same grammar issues as the other books I’ve read by this author. Descriptors for the MCs rather than the use of their names or ‘he,’ and odd pov changes, too.

I didn’t enjoy this book because of the grammar errors, and the storyline. The plot just didn’t work this time and it wasn’t just the non-con, it wasn’t developed enough. I give The Pool Rules, 2 Stars.
