This book was really cute, and I really liked that the story does not focus only on Misty's disability. Misty was looking for her stuffed monkey named Chimpy, but she couldn't remember where she last left him. Her and her dad retraced Misty's steps and eventually found Chimpy in the bathroom. I really enjoyed that this book had actual pictures that showed Misty and her dad's journey.

This book was adorable. This book is about a little girl, Misty, who is looking for her stuffed chimpy. She cannot go to bed without it, so she has to retrace her steps to find him. She ends up finding Chimpy in the bathroom. Misty has down syndrome, but it is not said in the book. Readers only know about her disability because of the photographs used. The author portrays Misty as an ordinary child, who lost their toy. Misty's disability does not make her who she is because, in fact, it is not even mentioned throughout the entire book. If the author was to leave out the photographs, readers would not know about her disability.… (altro)

What I like about this book is that it isn't centered at all on the main character's handicaps, showing kids that behind Downs Syndrome are regular people who struggle with the same things as everyone else, in this particular instance, searching for a lost toy you just can't sleep without and having to retrace your steps. I think this could be a great tool to facilitate discussion about people with handicaps.
